Highlights

What has happened?

Blackstone Minerals (ASX:BSX) announced that they struck a significant sulphide mineralisation in a previously untested zone within the Ta Cuong prospect. The discovery was made in the Taipan Discovery Zone (TDZ) in the first drill hole.

What are the key highlights?

  • The Taipan Discover Zone (TDZ), which was discovered by hole TC21-03 (sample from drill core featured below), features 39.70m of continuous disseminated sulphide (DSS), semi-massive sulphide vein (SMSV) and massive sulphide vein (MSV) unweathered mineralisation from 15.15m.
  • Blackstone made the discovery in the first drill-hole of a previously untested zone within the Ta Cuong prospect due to ongoing systematic testing of mapped Electromagnetic (EM) conductors.
  • The Company also noted that follow up drilling is being planned to test several proximal EM geophysics targets as well as the extent of the intensely mineralised TDZ.
  • The TC21-03 drill hole Intersected 39.70m of sulphide mineralisation, including DSS, SMSV and MSV. This interval was preceded by 9.27 meters of weakly weathered (limonitic) sulphide mineralisation (totalling 49 meters of continuous mineralisation from 5.88m).

What does this mean?

With Blackstone’s discover of the Taipan Discovery Zone (TDZ) and the ongoing drilling throughout the Ta Cuong prospect, there is the potential to add significantly to the Company’s massive sulphide mining inventory, providing further impetus for the restart of the Company’s existing 450kt concentrator.

Ta Cuong is a Nickel-PGE-Cu-Co MSV prospect located 6km along strike from the recently operating Ban Phuc MSV nickel mine and existing processing centre. The prospect is associated with the Ban Khang intrusive complex and is proximal to a major regional fault zone which also transects the Ban Phuc, King Snake and Ban Chang MSV zone.
