What happened?

What has happened?

Great news out from Blackstone (ASX:BSX) as they announce continued Massive Sulphide Vein (MSV) intersections at the King Snake prospect. The Company is aggressively drilling at King Snake and has observed MSV mineralisation in all drill holes subsequent to the maiden intersections recently announced.

What are the key highlights?

  • Blackstone reported that all five additional drill holes at King Snake have intersected MSV mineralisation’s. The KS21-06 drill sample featured below intersected 19.55m of continuous mineralisation, including disseminated sulphide (DSS), semi-massive sulphide vein (SMSV) and MSV.
  • Blackstone also noted that these new intersections along with historic drill results have defined a strike length of 800m. Importantly, the mineralisation is open in multiple directions as illustrated below in figure 3.
  • The drilling currently conducted by the Company at King Snake is focusing on new Electro-magnetic (EM) geophysics targets which extend down plunge to the west of historic drilling. Initial visual results suggest greater thickness of sulphide mineralisation down plunge of historic drilling.
  • In regards to the overall resource estimation at Ban Chang, King Snake is proving to be Blackstone’s highest priority Massive Sulphide Vein exploration target. Currently there are multiple drill rigs on site which will continue to test the extent of the uncovered mineralisation.

What does this mean?

The recent positive announcements out from Blackstone paint a potentially promising picture from the harvested King Snake results. Pending future assay results, King Snake has the potential to materially add to the Company’s MSV mining inventory and could support the restart of the existing 450ktpa Ban Phuc concentrator. King Snake is a MSV prospect, located 1.5km north-east of the processing facility, with historical drill results indicating a strike length of more than 800m which includes MSV, SMSV and DSS targets.

Another interesting aspect of the King Snake prospect is that the uncovered MSV mineralisation’s diverge into multiple directions. With the continuation of Blackstone’s aggressive drilling campaign alongside the new EM targets identified by their in-house geophysics team, the King Snake prospect is definitely a high priority drilling target for Blackstone going forward.

Managing Director, Blackstone Minerals Ltd

We are pleased by the rate of drilling at King Snake and the success of our exploration strategy in following up EM targets defined by our in-house geophysics team. King Snake features multiple EM plates and is proving to be one of Blackstone’s best massive sulfide nickel opportunities to date. We look forward to further aggressive drilling, reporting assays as they become available and being able to incorporate King Snake into our massive sulfide strategy
