SECOS Group Limited (SECOS) is a leader in sustainable packaging and was formed through the merger of Cardia Bioplastics and Stellar Films Group in April 2015. It develops, manufactures and markets its proprietary high-quality cast films and patented renewable resource-based materials and finished products derived from its proprietary technology for the global packaging and plastic products industries.

SECOS holds a strong patent portfolio and its growth is fuelled by the global trend towards sustainable packaging. SECOS has a Product Development Centre and manufacturing plants for resins and finished products in Malaysia and China as well as high-quality cast films plant in Malaysia. SECOS has sales offices in Australia, Malaysia, China, USA, and a network of leading distributors across the Americas, Asia and Europe.

Strong demand for its bioplastic products including bioplastic film sales, with Q1FY19/20 sales alone already eclipsing all of FY18/19.

New products continue to be researched and developed to capture additional market verticals including protective gowns and diapers.

A Huge Ecological Problem...

Each year approximately 78 million tons of soft plastics is used in packaging. Of this, an incredible 32% of plastic packaging ends up as waste in the ocean and land and 40% of plastic packaging ends up in Council/City land-fill.

...And SECOS Has The Solution.

SECOS have invested significantly in developing the know-how and IP necessary to develop and produce its compostable packaging solutions. SECOS produce, market and sell its product range to over 120 clients globally. SECOS products are 100% compostable as they are created from natural ingredients such as corn.

Strong demand for SECOS Group's packaging solutions is reflected in the increased sales of the company's bioplastic products. Bioplastic film sales in the first quarter of FY2019-2020 alone have already exceeded the whole of FY2018-2019.

The Value Chain

SECOS capture multiple parts of the value chain that go into producing its compostable products. SECOS do this by leveraging their 3 manufacturing plants and their extensive know-how and IP. By capturing the majority of the value chain SECOS is able to generate additional margin throughout the production process.

The Alternatives Are Not Viable

Oxo-Biodegradable plastic are not positive long term environmental solutions as they are not suited for recycling or composting. Furthermore, paper alternatives produces 6 times the green house gas emissions compared to compostable film alternatives. SECOS products are both bio-degradable and compostable, making it a truly environmentally friendly packaging solution.
